Distribution includes Africa, the Middle East and Asia (including China). There are five genera and 26 species, of which three genera and seven species occur in southern Africa.

Genera native to southern Africa

Information from Dippenaar-Schoeman et al. (2006) and Harvey (2003).

Bdellophaga

One species, Bdellophaga angulata, recorded from near Windhoek, Namibia.

 

Lipophaga

Limited to southern Africa, where there are three species.

 

Trichotoma

The three recorded species are all from Namibia.
