Bucorvus is the sole genus in this family and it contains two species: Northern (Abyssinian) ground hornbill Bocorvus abyssinicus (distribution: extending from Senegal in West Africa through the Sahel region to Ethiopia in the east); and Southern ground-hornbill Bucorvus leadbeateri (southern and east Africa).
