Cuthbertson, Alexander (1901-1942)

Studied the biology and systematics of flies and worked for the Department of Agriculture in what was then Southern Rhodesia.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland.

Obtained Diploma of Agriculture at the West of Scotland Agricultural College. While at college, started studying the biology of crane flies (Tipulidae).

1926

 

Joined the Department of Agriculture, Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia in June. Collected insects and became custodian of insect collections. Started studying the systematics of tachinid flies.

1934

 

Married Margaret Niven of Bulawayo.

15 Jul 1942

 

Died (in the War ???)

Specimens

Some insect specimens in Iziko SA Museum collections but presumably most of specimens are in Zimbabwe collections.
