FitzSimons, V.F.M. (1901-1975)
Primarily studied reptiles but also collected some
insects for the Transvaal Museum where he was director from 1946-1966.

Took up the position of Senior Assistant in Zoology at
Transvaal Museum. His post eventually became defined as curator of the
department of Lower Vertebrates and Invertebrates and his research was mainly on
lizards and snakes. |

Spent 6 months in Bechuanaland (now Botswana) on the
Vernay-Lang
Kalahari Expedition. |
1946 |

Became Director of the Transvaal Museum. |

Retired from Transvaal Museum. |
