Eleven genera and 54 species are native to southern Africa, with two genera and two species naturalised.

Anisopappus

There are 32 species globally, nine of which are found in southern Africa.

Antiphiona

Two species, both endemic to Namibia.

Blumea

About 100 species, found from tropical Africa through to Asia and Australia. Three species are native to southern Africa.

Calomeria

One species native to southern Africa - Calomeria africana (recorded from Zimbabwe). See Flora of Zimbabwe.

Calostephane

The six species are native to tropical Africa and Madagascar; three are native to southern Africa.

Geigeria

Of the 27 species, 22 are native to southern Africa, the remaining species being found in other parts of Africa.

Inula

About 100 species, native to Europe, Africa and Asia with two species native to southern Africa and three species cultivated.

Ondetia

The only species is Ondetia linearis, found in Namibia.

Pechuel-Loeschea

The only species is Pechuel-Loeschea leubnitziae, native to southern Africa. See Flora of Zimbabwe.

Pegolettia

The nine species are native to Africa and the Middle East and all of them occur in southern Africa.

Pulicaria

The 77 species are native to Europe, Africa and Asia with one species, Pulicaria scabra, found in southern Africa. See Flora of Zimbabwe.

Dittrichia

There are 2 species, native to the Mediterranean region. Dittrichia graveolens has become naturalised in the Western Cape, southern Africa.

Pentanema

About 18 species, native to Africa. Pentanema indicum is an introduced weed in southern Africa.
