Protea amplexicaulis (Clasping-leaf sugarbush)

Namaqua rock mouse (Aethomys namaquensis) pollinating Protea amplexicaulis. Photographed under artificial conditions but is a vaild representation of authentic behaviour. This Protea amplexicaulis flowerhead was collected in winter on Jonaskop in the Riviersonderend Mountains, Western Cape, South Africa, where this behaviour was originally studied.
