Distribution and habitat

Endemic to southern Africa, it is generally prefers dense, tangled bush along streams, in clearings and at the edge of plantations.

Food 

Its foraging habits are not well known, however it has been recorded foraging for insects on the ground.

Breeding

  • The nest is an untidy cup built of twigs, grass, leaves and plant debris and lined with finer material. It is typically concealed in tangled foliage either on the ground or placed between some branches.
  • Egg-laying season is from September-December.
  • It lays about 2 eggs which hatch into chick who are fed by both parents.
