There are 18 genera and 173 species (mainly southern Hemisphere, especially Australasia) of which two genera (Afrocarpus and Podocarpus) and four species are native to southern Africa.

Six species One species, Afrocarpus falcatus (Outeniqua yellowwood).

 

Podocarpus

There are about 105 species (Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, also South America, Africa, Asian and Pacific tropics) Three species in southern Africa.

Phyllocladus trichomanoides (Tanekaha)

Native to New Zealand.
