Known for concealing its head under a coil when threatened.

Known to burrow particularly deep underground.

 

Amblyodipsas ventrimaculata (Kalahari purple-glossed snake)

Can be differentiated from the other species by its yellow colouration and strictly nocturnal lifestlye.
