Previously known as the Sabi Quill-snouted snake.

 

Xenocalamus transvaalensis (Transvaal quill-snouted snake, Speckled quill-snouted snake)

Considered rare and is threatened by agricultural activities.

Xenocalamus bicolour (Bicoloured quill-snouted snake)

May be flushed to the surface during heavy rainfall.

The unique colouration of this snake makes it easy to differentiate from others species.
