Recorded only from the Cape Peninsula (Western Cape, South Africa), at
depths of 1-2 m. |

Saldanha Bay (Western Cape) to Mozambique) (Branch et al. 2010) at depths of
2-10 m. |

Ascidia krechi Recorded off Cape
Town at a depth of 318 m. |

Ascidia sydneiensis (Crevice ascidian)
Distribution includes South Africa, Japan, Australia, west Pacific Ocean,
west Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean (Kott 2005). In southern Africa it has
been recorded from Knysna (Western Cape) (record under Ascidia compta
in Monniot et al. 2001), Port Elizabeth (Eastern Cape) and Maputo
(Mozambique) (Branch et al. 2010). Picker & Griffiths (2011) list it as an
alien and invasive animal in southern Africa but this needs confirmation. |
