Distribution and habitat
Endemic to to Namibia and South Africa, preferring rocky
outcrops, boulder-strewn slopes and mountainsides with grass and shrubs.

Food
It eats insects gleaned from rocks, crevices and shrubs. The following food items have been recorded
in its diet:
Breeding
- The nest is oval-shaped with a large side-top entrance, built of grey
grass or Serruria leaves, secured with spider web and lined with
Kapokbos (Eriocephalus africanus) and wool. It is typically placed in
a bush such as a restio, Concertina bush (Crassula rupestris) or aloe
(e.g. Aloe microstigma).
- It has been recorded laying 2-4 eggs during the period from
July-December.
Threats
Not threatened, although its population is scattered,
occurring in islands of habitat around inselbergs (large rocky outcrops).
