Twenty genera and 273 species are native to southern Africa,
two genera and seven species naturalised and 10 genera and 20
species cultivated.

Amellus
The 12 species are endemic to southern Africa.

Aster
About 250 species, found mainly in
the northern hemisphere. There are 17 indigenous and one naturalised species in southern Africa,
with an additional seven species cultivated in the region.

Chrysocoma
A total of 21 species, all found in southern Africa.

Conyza
About 60 species found worldwide in warm areas. There are 14 species
native to southern Africa, with an additional
four species naturalised.

Dichrocephala
Four species, native to tropical and subtropical Africa, Madagascar and
Asia. Dichrocephala integrifolia and Dichrocephala
chrysanthemifolia are the only species found in southern
Africa.

Engleria
There are two species, native to Angola and Namibia.

Felicia
Of the 83 species, 80 are native to southern Africa. The other species are
native to other parts of Africa and to Saudi Arabia.

Grangea
There are 10 species, native to Africa, Madagascar and Asia, of which
two occur in southern Africa.

Gymnostephium
All eight species are endemic to the Western Cape.

Flora of Zimbabwe) is a garden plant that has become naturalised in
southern Africa.
