On right are dissected flowers showing how the anthers are joined
together. When a bird probes into the flower, the anthers break apart
exposing the elongate pores through which the dry pollen explodes. Much
of the pollen lands on the bird's face; the bird flies to another flower
where the pollen is rubbed off onto the stigma, thus effecting
