Pollination
Pollinated by Hawkmoths (Lepidoptera:
Sphingidae) including:
-
Basiotha schenki - Johnson (1995) found this to be an effective
pollinator of Disa cooperi. Pollinaria get attached to the basal,
thicker, portion of the proboscis.
Agrius convolvuli
also visited the flowers but its proboscis is too long for the basal portion
to come into contact with the pollinaria. This hawkmoth therefore does not
usually effect pollination in Disa cooperi and effectively is a nectar
robber.
